Scarce c. 1917 Azo Tri 2 real-photo postcard of Park Hall (Freie Gemeinde), a Freethinkers' Society in Sauk City, WI. Founded by German immigrants, the liberal religious society also celebrated German culture, literature and music. This exuberantly decorated Victorian building was erected in 1884 as a meeting house for the Freethinkers, who had previously met in a private home. The building now houses the Sauk County Free Congregation, a Unitarian Universalist group. Postmarked in 1927, the image was made by Becker's photography studio of Sauk City. Nicely detailed and sharply focused, great clarity. A desirable Sauk County or social history collectible in excellent condition.
