Scarce unused c. 1908-1910 Kruxo real-photo pioneer postcard of the Z. C. B. J. Hall in downtown Niobrara, Nebraska! ZCBJ was a social center for settlers from Slovakia and is short for Zapadni Cesko Bratrske Jednota, which translates into Western Bohemian Fraternal Association in English. Shows a two-story brick building which appears newly constructed, with construction debris at left and a boardwalk out front. Remarkably detailed and sharply focused, great clarity, right down to the barrel in the muddy road out front. Unusual metal bell tower to the right, as well as other town businesses. Due to repeated Missouri River flooding, the town was moved to a new site, west and south of the location where this picture was taken; these buildings are long gone. A desirable Knox County, Slovakian or fraternal collectible in very good condition!
