Nicely detailed and postally unused c. 1940 postcard of famous "barrel rider" and lifesaver William "Red" Hill of Niagara Falls, Canada. Stuntman Hill recovered 177 bodies from the Niagara River and received four Humane Association medals before his death in 1942 at age 54. When his son tried to barrel ride the Niagara in 1951, he lost his life; the public outcry put an end to the stuntmen and daredevils who'd tried -- some successfully and some not -- to ride the rapids and live to tell about it. Published by F. H. Leslie of Niagara Falls, and a desirable Canadian collectible in excellent condition.
