Graphically striking unused 1941 postcard of Keokuk, a famous American Indian chief. Born on the Rock River in Illinois, he played a prominent role in the Sauk tribe both before and after the Black Hawk war. He debated in Washington, DC with the Sioux and other tribes for the Sauk claim to the territory of Iowa. After he died in Kansas in 1848, his remains were moved to Keokuk, Iowa and interred there. No. 8 in G. I. Groves 1941 "Famous American Indian Series," and a desirable Native Americana collectible in excellent condition.
