Handsome 1930s to 1940s postcard, not postally used until 1946, of the excursion steamboat "Hendrick Hudson," built in 1906 for the Hudson River Day Line for its trips between New York City and Albany, NY! Licensed to carry 5,500 passengers, the side-wheeler was built by the Marvel Shipbuilding Company at Newburgh, NY. The steamship operated until 1948 and then was towed to Philadelphia in 1951 and broken up. Sender wrote: "I am on this boat - 5:00 p.m. on a return trip from Poughkeepsie - a ten hour sail. We had a turkey dinner in the dining room. What a perfect trip." Hand colored, published by the Albertype Co., and a desirable New York or transportation collectible in excellent condition!
