Handsome graphics in this striking c. 1907 patriotic postcard, artist-signed by Ellen H. Clapsaddle! White lettering for the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) is emblazoned on a gold, red, white and blue background. The text describing the Union Army's efforts in the Civil War says: "Pride and glory, and honor, all/Live in the colors to stand or fall." Flowers adorn the shield below, on which two military medals are seen. Most likely a Decoration Day postcard, as opposed to later Memorial Day postcards. Not postally used until 1909, with minor paper loss on the reverse not materially affecting this scarce holiday or militaria collectible in otherwise very good condition!
