Handsome unused c. 1945 EKC real-photo postcard of the W.M.S. Cabin in Riverview Park at Cedar Falls, IA! Nicely detailed, great clarity, sharply focused, showing a homey-looking one-story log cabin with a rock end chimney. The park, located at Ellen St. and South Park Rd., is on a bluff overlooking the Cedar River. Originally part of E. 0. Mullarky's pasture, nine acres were sold in 1916 at $200 an acre to the Iowa Conference of the Evangelical Church, for its annual camp meeting. After a tabernacle, dormitory, kitchen, dining hall and administration building were built, the first camp meeting was held in 1917. A later purchase of 11 acres was financed in part by 99-year cabin leases; more than 85 cabins were eventually built. Since 1922, Riverview has hosted the annual summer Cedar Falls Bible Conference, a week-long interdenominational gathering. A desirable Black Hawk County or religious collectible in very good condition!
