Scarce unused deckle-edged postcard, hand dated on the reverse as 1941 but perhaps slightly earlier, of the interior of George M. Chinn’s Cave House gas station at Brooklyn Bridge, Kentucky, in the Palisades on Route 68 from Lexington to Harrodsburg! Along the left side of the entry is a decorative cobblestone wall of a type popularly used in the 1920s and 1930s. On the right is an oversized (our guess is approximately 10-12 feet in height) Royal Crown Cola figural advertisement in the shape of a soda bottle. Since this roadside cafe was in a cave, it’s unlikely this advertisement would be made of paper. Perhaps tin? In the background is a man in a white suit. He appears to be black, and is perhaps the black gas station attendant seen in another scarce Brooklyn Bridge view. There appears to be seating to the right of the man. Published by Henry Ahrens of Charlotte, NC, and a scarce roadside America, Mercer County or advertising collectible in excellent condition!
