Roadside Americana Postcards

August 13th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Here’s a classic roadside Americana postcard recently snapped up by a savvy buyer. The “Golden Age” of roadside Americana vintage postcards was from the late 1930s through the 1950s, encompassing both linen postcards and early chrome postcards. Caf├ęs, diners, motels, tourist courts, gas stations and automobile dealership views are some of the most popular roadside postcard collectibles. Roadside enthusiasts also often collect by roadways, Route 66, Route 40 and the Lincoln Highway (Route 30) being some of the more collectible highways. This McDonald’s advertising postcard from Pomona, California is somewhat scarce for the company, and offered a free hamburger and a helping of their signature French fries to the card’s lucky recipient.
