Handsome c. 1917-1918 postcard showing Camp Custer, biplanes flying overhead, at Battle Creek, Michigan! Built in 1917 for World War I military training, the camp (now Fort Custer) was named after Civil War cavalry officer General George Armstrong Custer. More than 100,000 troops trained or demobilized there during the war. Penciled notation on the reverse saying: "I wish you could see the place." A desirable Calhoun County, aviation or militaria collectible in excellent condition!
