Dramatic, sweeping view in this unused c. 1907-1915 postcard of the tourist hotel at Balholm, or Balholmen, in the Sogne Fjord in Norway. Balholm is situated at the point where an arm of the Sogne Fjord, the Fjaerland Fjord, runs north towards the largest glacier in Norway, the Jostedals Brae. Mountains rising 4,000 feet surround the Balholmen valley. Legend has it that Balholm, or Balholmen, is the home of Frithjof and Ingeborg, and an old Viking grave mound is believed to be Frithjof's grave. Balholmen is a famous summer resort for artists and a well-known tourist destination. A desirable Norwegian collectible in excellent condition.
